The Canton Varsity Baseball team advances to 1-0 on the season, beating Edwards-Knox 10-0. Canton played a solid 5 innings, getting the bats started in the third inning.
Canton scored 6 in the third, 3 in the fourth, and 1 in the fifth to put them over the 10 run limit after 5 innings, the baseball mercy rule. Defensively, the Bears David Zuhlsdorf recorded a no hitter, with 12 strikeouts on 15 batters. Runs came from up and down the lineup, and nearly everyone got on base. Daven Lafaver went 2/2 with a walk, a run, and an RBI, Hazelton 1/3, 2R, RBI, Thompson 2/3, double, RBI.
Canton will play Friday against Carthage away and Saturday home against Malone, weather permitting.
