Canton 72, Salmon River 21
The Canton Girls Varsity Basketball team inched a little closer to a share of the Central Division lead last evening with a convincing 72 to 21 win over the visiting Salmon River Shamrocks. With the win the Bears move to a record of 8-3 on the season, trailing Gouverneur and Massena who each boast a league record of 10-2 currently. With three league games remaining for the Bears, anything is possible if they can win out their remaining games.
Honored last evening were the senior members of the team which include Amelia Rodee, Mattigan Porter, Camryn Sipher and Maddy Hoy. The group boosted their win streak to four games and were lead by Maddy Hoy with a game high 27 points. Ava Hoy followed with 11 and Amelia Rodee worked the glass constantly all night and chipped in 10 points of her own.
The Bears travel this evening to take on a tough St. Lawrence Central team who bested the Bears earlier in the season by a score of 53 to 46.
