The boys swim team hosted squads from Plattsburgh, Ausable Valley, and Gouverneur on Saturday January 11th for an invitational. Due to the small number of teams in both Section X and Section VII, the boys swim in a merged sectional format for championships. On February 13th, all the boys swim teams from Section VII and X will gather to hold one championship meet. The invitational on the 11th was a great opportunity for the teams to race each other before Sectionals. And the competition was fierce.
Plattsburgh and Ausable came ready to compete and it led to an exciting meet. The CLP swimmer swam well. Senior Alex Baxter swam his best 200 Free of the season while taking second place with a time of 2:07.47. Freshman Daniel Armendariz-Huang broke the 27 second barrier with his 26.70 third place finish in the 50 free. Mark Hollinger continues to dominate the backstroke with his win in the 100 back.
Going into the final event of the day, Plattsburgh and CLP were tied with Ausable Valley sitting just a few points behind. The CLP swimmers put their energy into the final relay, but they were unable to hold off the Plattsburgh squad.
