On Wednesday night the JV volleyball team played their final game of the season. Katie Metcalf and Emma Logan had stand out performances for the Bears, helping them defeat the Yellow Jackets. They beat Madrid-Waddington in two out of three sets with scores of 25-10, 24-26, and 25-10.
The first set got off to a strong start for the Bears. Emma Logan had strong serving, which the rest of the team protected. The Bears fought hard for the 25-10 win.
During the second set, former the Jackets played very well and the Bears were a bit shaky. The set was close all the way through and there were many long rallies that Madrid-Waddington won. In the end the Jackets came out on top by a score of 24-26.
The second set loss pushed the Bears to fight even harder during the third set. They came back stronger and won the last set 25-10.
Stat leaders of the night were Katie Metcalf with 9 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig, 5 aces, and 10 service points. Emma Logan tossed in 5 kills, 3 assists, 8 aces, and 20 total service points. Laurel Whittier contributed 1 kill, 8 assists, 1 ace, and a total of 6 points served. Josie Gabriel had 2 kills, 5 aces, and served a total of 15 points. Cecily Shipman with 3 kills, 2 aces, and 3 service points.
This was the JV Bears last game of the season.
