Canton Varsity volleyball honored seven seniors on Tuesday night and with a 17-0 season the girls will have fond memories of their last year as Golden Bears players.
Seniors honored were: Outside Hitter Katie Bennett, Right Hitter Makayla Douglas, DS Alyssa Jacob, Setter Mattigan Porter, Middle Hitter Julianna Richardson, Libero Jade Stevenson and Opposite Hitter Riley Taylor.
Mattigan Porter and Riley Taylor finished the regular season and their varsity career with strong performances. Porter had 11 assists, 4 digs, 12 serving points and 13 aces. Taylor, in what became a staple of her time at Canton, had a consecutive serving run that added 11 serving points and 13 aces. She also supplied 1 kill, and 1 dig.
Another strong contributor, Katie Bennett, added 10 kills, 4 blocks, 1 dig and 1 ace. Ava Hoy had 3 kills, 1 dig and 3 aces.
Playoffs are next for The Bears. The girls will play at home next week on Tuesday with opposing team still to be determined.
