The Canton Golden Bears Varsity Soccer Team beat the Gouverneur Wildcats, 8-0. The Bears have been looking for a win for almost half their season, and they finally buried the ball against the Wildcats.
The Bears took the game from the beginning, trying to outrun the flat defense that Gouverneur runs. The Bears quickly put the pressure on offense and it was not long until the floodgates opened. Zak Moumen opened up the scoring, which was also the game winner, on a pass from Owen Hall. Not long after, Hall assisted another, this time to Tanner Hazelton. At this point in the game, it was very one sided, and the Bears piled on two more before halftime and four more in the second half. Hall finished with two assists and a goal, Hazelton with two goals and an assist, Vincent Nelson-Fuse assisted two and scored one, Scott Ahlfeld had two assists, Ethan Francy had a goal and an assist, Josh Aldous had a goal, and Jack Kerrigan scored as well.
The Golden Bears brought up three new players from the JV team; Ethan Francy, Ryan Jones, and Jacob Rosales. All three younger guys show promise, and Canton will look to use every advantage they can get in the coming week for the playoffs.
The Bears face Potsdam at home and it will be their senior night on Thursday.
