Canton girls are now touting an 8-0 season with more than half of their games behind them. Their team chemistry on the court and their commitment to getting back on track when they falter, makes them a tough group to get by.
After easily winning the first two sets 25-13 and 25-12, Chateaugay gave Canton a battle for the third set. Canton rose above some missteps and won the set 25-20.
Hitters Katie Bennett, Riley Taylor and Ava Hoy all had standout performances. Bennett delivered 8 kills, 7 aces and 4 points, Taylor handed out 3 kills, 2 aces, 3 assists and 9 points. Hoy had 5 kills, 4 aces and 6 points. Setter Mattigan Porter had 12 assists and contributed 5 points.
With consistent performances by several key players, and a team clearly enjoying their time on the court, the Bears are fun to watch.
Their next game is at home Monday evening at 6:15 pm when they play Tupper Lake.
