Canton 17 – Potsdam 1
The Golden Bears Varsity Softball team made the short trip down Route 11 this past Saturday morning to face off with the Potsdam Sandstoners. Hadley Alguire lined two doubles in a four-hit outing and drove in four runs and combined with Ava Hoy to pitch a four-hitter.
“Sophomore Hadley Alguire and freshman Ava Hoy were both around the plate all day and we played solid defense behind them. Hoy was throwing gas in her first varsity appearance, striking out five in two innings.” stated Bears head coach Mike Wentworth.

Cate DeCoteau continued her hot bat by crushing three hits including a triple and five-RBI’s. Natalie Warner, Hadleigh Thornton, Lucy DeCoteau and Brooke Larrabee each stroked two singles. Megan Davis and Alyssa Jacobs also singled in the game. Katie Green homered and drove in the lone Sandstoners run in the first inning for Potsdam. The Bears will be back in action on Thursday as they will match up with the Salmon River Shamrocks on “Senior Day” in a doubleheader at Ike Noble Fields in Canton. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm. A short “Senior Day” ceremony will be held in between games.
