The Golden Bears got off to a hot start in Brasher Falls, scoring the first 3 goals and dominating the possession. A collaborative effort on the faceoff X from Colin Taylor, Josh Aldous and Cody Francis was instrumental in the Bears success. The Golden Bears won 80 percent of draws, allowing the offense many opportunities, to which they capitalized.
Senior Trey Bessette got the Bears in motion, scoring the first goal and setting the tone for the game. Soon after, Charlie Grandaw found the back of the net, fed from the behind the cage by Junior Daniel Mahoney. The scoring would continue, with Daniel Mahoney scoring two of his own and assisting on two more.
Senior Aiden Hoose was instrumental for the Bears in the second half, finishing the game with 3 goals and 4 assists. Grandaw also scored 3 more of his own, bringing his game total to 4.
Not to be outdone by the offense, the Bears defensively were stout and disciplined in their approach, thwarting many scoring opportunities and taking the Larries out of rhythm. Senior Parker Hunt held his matchup scoreless and was key in the Bears’ team defense approach. Senior Peter Coakley also shined for the Bears, forcing turnovers and helping to push the pace to the offense. Goalie Hayden Todd stood tall, recording 11 saves and picking off multiple passes. Overall it was a great collective effort from the Bears against a top league opponent.
The Bears move to 4-1 on the season and remain undefeated in league play. They are back in action this Saturday at home as they take on the Plattsburgh Hornets. Game time 10 a.m.
