The Bears hit the road Friday afternoon for an away game in Plattsburgh which they went on to win 16-2.
“Plattsburgh is new to our league this year and we were a bit worried about coming out strong after a long bus ride, but the girls showed up ready to go right off the first draw,” stated Head Coach Murphy Newman.
The Bears took the lead quickly with a score of 4-0 in the first 3 minutes of play. The Coburn sisters walked away at the end of the day with a combined 10 points. Etta tallied four goals with two assists while Vivian added three goals and one assist.
The coaching staff for the Bears was impressed with the number of girls netting goals and assisting in Friday nights game. Haley Stevenson and Megan Martin both finished with two goals and one assist. Camryn Sipher added one goal and one assist, Lindsay Filiatrault had two assists, Hannah Reed walked away at the end of the night with one goal and two assists and Wyatt Newman added one goal. Junior defender Amelia Rodee once again netted a goal with a coast to coast run in the second half.
Saturday the Bears returned to their home field for their second game of the weekend against Potsdam at 1 p.m. The Bears had a rocky first half but went into halftime with a 7-4 lead. After a halftime regroup, the Bears quickly netted a few, pulling away from the Sandstoners ending and with an 18-6 victory.
Etta Coburn walked away from the day with 4 goals and 6 assists, Vivian Coburn with 1 goal and 4 assists, Senior Captains Haley Stevenson and Camryn Sipher both tallied four points on 1 goal and 3 assists, Hannah Reed came out with 2 goals, Lindsay Filiatrault added a goal and an assist, and both Phoebe Jaskowski and Amelia Rodee added an assist to the final.
The Bears were pleased with the weekend wins and are back in action Monday in Ogdensburg at 6 p.m.
