The Bears blanked St. Lawrence Central 15-0 on Thursday in Brasher as Emily Wentworth struck out six in three innings and Hadley Alguire fanned seven batters in four innings of the combined three-hit shutout.
Wentworth stroked three hits to help her own cause, while Brooke Larrabee belted a triple and a homerun to lead the Bears’ offense. Lexis Huiatt, Sydnee Francis and Natalie Warner all stroked two singles. Rylee Daoust, Hannah Agans and Chantel McCarthy all singled for SLC. Agans also supplied a complete game on the mound.

“As a team we hit the ball very well. Brooke Larrabee and a monster day at the plate and both pitchers had good command of the strike zone today,” said Canton Coach Mike Wentworth. Hadley Alguire, Cate DeCoteau and Hadleigh Thornton also hit safely for Canton.

JV Bears beat SLC 17-2. Courtney Peters and Ava Hoy split the pitching duties. Hoy: 2 IP, 5 K, 0H Peters: 4 IP, 9 K, 1 H. Lucy DeCoteau and Hoy lead the Bears at the plate with four hits apiece. Peters also smacked two hits in the winning cause. Both the JV and Varsity Softball teams are scheduled to be in action again on Saturday morning at Ike Noble Field against the Malone Huskies. First pitch is scheduled for 10am.
