Saturday afternoon at Ike Noble Field, the Canton Golden Bears and Heuvelton Bulldogs squared off in a non-league Softball game. The game was the completion of a game suspended on Thursday due to rain.
Heuvelton scored four runs in the first two innings but Canton promptly scored four times in the third inning and sealed the issue with four runs in the top of the seventh.

Emily Wentworth struck out five and weathered 10 Heuvelton hits to pitch the win and sparked the winning offense with a homerun, double and a single and four RBIs. Hadley Alguire struck out two pitching a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Lexi Huiatt stroked two singles and scored three runs and Sydnee Francis and Hadley Thornton also singled twice for the Bears (3-1). Alguire also singled and had three RBI’s in the winning cause.

Lilly Spooner went 2 for 2 and scored two runs and Chasity Johnson singled twice to lead Heuvelton (0-2). Starting pitcher Ali Trathen, Amanda Cunningham, Carley Simmons, Katie Cunningham and Rylin McAllister all stroked singles for the Bulldogs. Trathen pitched the first four innings and Johnson closed the last three. The Bears will be at home again on Tuesday against the Massena Red Raiders. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
