Boys JV Basketball Tops Hermon-DeKalb

The Canton JV boys basketball season got off to a great start with a well-rounded team effort beating Hermon-DeKalb 57-21. The Bears started off strong and never looked back as they held Hermon to eight points in the first half.

Forward Jake Backus led the team with nine points and Guard Ethan Francey was close behind with six of his own. Five different players added five points each.

“I thought the boys had a good start to what I hope to be a great but short season!” said JV Coach Bill Porter. “We had a lot of contributions from every player and 12 of our 13 players scored!”

The Bears’ defense was dominant with multiple blocks and steals. Guard Ryan Jones was strong on both ends of the court contributing to multiple baskets and defensive stops.

The next opponent for the Bears is Potsdam on Tuesday as Canton looks to continue the strong start.
