The Canton girls modified basketball team swept St. Lawrence Central for the second time in a week with a pair of wins on Tuesday at home.  The seventh graders won 26-21 and the eighth graders held off a strong second half charge by the Larries to win 32-18.

Winnie Downs led the seventh-grade team with 11 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  Vivian Coburn added seven points, five steals, three rebounds, and two assists.  Sara Aldous contributed four points, three rebounds and two steals.  Gracen Parker also scored four points and had three rebounds and two steals, and Haley Burnett chipped in with three rebounds and a steal.

In the eighth-grade game, Canton led 20-4 at halftime, but St. Lawrence Central clawed back to close within six at 24-18 in the fourth quarter.  The Bears closed the game on an 8-0 run to pull out the win.  Josie Gabriel notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Katie Metcalf added six points, five rebounds and three steals.  Stella Shipman notched four points, three assists, three steals, and two rebounds.  Laurel Whittier chipped in with four points, three rebounds and three steals.  Ava Ames also had four points and three rebounds, Kylie Gollinger contributed two points, and Maysa Moumen snagged two rebounds. 

The Bears are back in action on Friday when they host Massena.
