The Canton Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Massena on Monday night too face a very good Raiders JV squad.
The young Bears started out strong and were leading 39-30 going into the fourth quarter when the momentum started to change. The Bears were out scored 21-4 in the last frame and ended up losing the game 51-43.
“We have been playing very well and have made huge improvements since the last time we saw the Raiders in December. Tonight we played three great quarters but just couldn’t finish it off. I was proud of how we battled tonight in a tough atmosphere,” Coach Mike Wentworth said.
Eight grader Ava Hoy led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Rounding the balanced scoring attack for the Bear Cubs were Amelia Rodee 7 points, 10 rebounds, Courtney Peters 5 points, Mattie Porter 4 points and Camryn Sipher 3 points.
