The boys varsity soccer team traveled to Salmon River on Wednesday, where they shut out the Shamrocks in a 2-0 victory to advance to the Section X Championship.
The first half ended in a scoreless tie with both teams registering scoring opportunities.
In the second half, a strike from Christopher Schuckers broke the deadlock in the 49th minute. Colin Taylor notched a second goal for the Bears just three minutes later to insure the victory with an assist from Owen Hall. Salmon River was unable to solve the Bears’ defense and the goaltending of Andy Downs, who played in goal for the first time this season.
The Bears will play OFA on Saturday at 3 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam for the Class B boys soccer title after the Blue Devils dismantled the Potsdam Sandstoners by a final score of 7-2.
