The JV football team fell 14-8 to Massena Thursday afternoon in Canton.
The Bears started off hot, driving down the field with effective running strategy. The drive was capped off with a touchdown run by sophomore running back Collin Parmeter. The Bears then cashed in on their two point try when sophomore quarterback Daniel Mahoney completed a pass to sophomore wide receiver Lane Rayburn making the game 8-0.
The Red Raiders then responded in the second quarter with a long touchdown pass and a successful two point conversion, making the game 8-8.
Both teams then matched unsuccessful drives, but it looked as if that would change when Mahoney connected with Freshman wide reciever Erich Zulsdorf for a long would be TD pass, but the play was called back on a holding call.
Massena then struck to make the game 14-6
With about two minutes to go, the Bears again looked to be on the doorstep of a touchdown when Mahoney connected with sophomore tight end Jonah Longshore with a pass that would have left the Bears on the ten yard line, but again a holding penalty called back the play.
The Bears were unable to answer in the end, making the final 14-6 with the Bears falling to 3-2.
The Bears are back in action on the road at Potsdam next Friday November 11th at 4:15 p.m.
