The Canton Boys JV Soccer Bears played Potsdam at home Tuesday night with storm clouds threatening the entire game, eventually leaving early with a 2-0 win.
The Bears had one of their best ball control games of the season with the team moving and passing as much as the wind was blowing.
Midway through the first half, Jack Kerrigan took a corner kick that floated to the far side of the net and got tipped in by a Potsdam defender. The Sandstoners had an opportunity to score later on a breakaway, but Bears defensive pressure was enough to make the ball be kicked wide of the net. The Bears found themselves going into halftime with a 2-0 lead after Vincent Nelson-Fuse scored off a rebound on another cross from Kerrigan.
The game ended 12 minutes into the second half as thunder sounded, not as applause, but as a weather phenomenon that sent both teams packing. The Bears record moves to 6-2 on the season. Canton will get a chance to pit themselves against an undefeated Massena team on Thursday in Massena. The Bears lost the first time to the Raiders 6-0 earlier in the season.
