In three sets 25-10, 25-18, 25-12 the Varsity Volleyball team shut out the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks. Canton was able to bounce back after a tough battle with Potsdam last week. The Bears found consistency in their serving and offensive play, Tuesday night.
The match was a chance for Canton to use every player on their squad, and all players used the time on the court to show their own strengths. As a team, the Bears served 20 aces and were able to play defense to keep their strong servers behind the line. The great execution and overall strong play from the Golden Bears is a great confidence booster for the team. Canton hoped to replicate and build off their success from Tuesday.
To lead Canton (4-3) outside hitter, Gretchen Warner had 10 kills and served four aces. JV move-up, middle hitter, Katie Bennett had a strong start to her varsity career with two kills, seven service aces, and 10 total serves. Setter Kelsea Whittier had 14 assists and hitter Sydney Lorenc had three kills and three aces.
Canton has their next match in Brushton Moira on Thursday night at 6 p.m., yet the Bears are home for their Pink Week game next Monday, October 7 at 6 p.m. For Pink Week the players will be sporting lots of pink accessories and will be hosting a concession stand to raise money for The Lodge at Dreaming Tree Ranch.
The Bears will also be putting on a Fun Night for all 4-6 graders on Friday night. The event will last from 5-7 p.m. and cost $5 to addend. For entertainment the pool will be open, the gym will have game, the team will be face painting, and the stage will be open for dancing, and more. Bring money for the large concession stand too because the girls will be selling Sergi’s Pizza, baked goods, drinks, snacks, and other goodies.
