The JV football squad shut out Saranac Lake on the road by a score of 20-0.
The Bears started off hot, scoring on their first drive with steady runs by sophomore running backs Collin Parmeter and Lane Rayburn. The drive was capped off by a touchdown rush by sophomore quarterback Daniel Mahoney. The Bears then failed on their two point try leaving the score at 6-0.
The Bears were able to back up their fast start on offense with solid defensive play, which continued throughout the whole game. Saranac Lake never made it inside Canton’s red zone.
The Bears struck again in the second quarter, with a 15 yard touchdown pass from Mahoney to freshman wide receiver Erich Zuhlsdorf. The Bears then punched in their two point try to make it 14-0.
At the end of the second quarter and well into the third, there was persistent rain fall, which slowed down offensive efficiency for both squads.
Despite the rain, the Bears were able to strike again on a 35 yard touchdown pass from Mahoney to Rayburn. The Bears could not punch in their two point try, making the score 20-0.
The 20-0 score held for the rest of the game helping the Bears secure the win and improve to 3-1.
The Bears are back at home next Thursday, Oct. 3 at 4:15 p.m.
