On Friday night, the Lady Bears dominated the Larries on their new turf at St. Lawrence Central. The final score was 3-0.
From the first kickoff, the Bears attacked offensively. Throughout the first 25 minutes the Bears generated a lot of scoring opportunities but couldn’t get a goal. Megan Laflair and Claire Craig had great offensive efforts throughout the entire game and worked well together. This lead to Megan’s first varsity goal. After 27 minutes of play, Haycook gave her a great ball at the 18, and she put it in.
The Bears didn’t get complicit after the goal. Two minutes later, Molly Finnerty assited the ball to Katie Chisholm to make it 2-0. Senior, Molly Finnerty was also impressive in Friday’s game. After a player was slightly injured, she stepped up and filled the position. With eight minutes left in the half, Jenni Haycook headed to the net and made the score 3-0.
The Bears looked good under the Friday Night Lights. Although the score didn’t rise, the Bears had an even better second half. They were able to move the ball well, communicate, and placed the ball in locations that increased scoring opportunities.
Throughout the game, the Larries goalie faced 14 shots. Abbi Dent from Canton faced four. During the second half, Dent looked to maintain her shutout. With about four minutes left she made a beautiful save, to keep the score 3-0.
