Varsity Football Toppled by Undefeated Gouverneur

On Saturday, October 24, the Bears took on Gouverneur at home. The Bears knew this would be a hard game going into it and unfortunately fell to them with a score of 53-7.

Prior to the game the Bears knew it was going to be a hard fight, they spent the week working to get the strongest they could be for the Wildcats and to prepare to the best of their abilities. Coach Kenna shared that despite the outcome of the game, the guys on the team didn’t let up.

The Bears defense worked to push the Wildcats back the best they could while the offense worked to get the ball into their endzone. Throughout the season the Bears have worked to improve their game and always work to be better.

Coach Kenna shared that one of the challenges this season was the overall depth of the team, however it allowed many of the underclassmen to get quality playing time. The Bears worked their hardest to not lose their drive this game, with a tough team to beat they kept putting in the work throughout the whole game.

Even with some minor setbacks for the Bears they still managed to get on the board for a touchdown. Kenna believes that the team is getting healthy at the right time and that they will match up well with the teams they will see in the coming weeks as they head into the playoffs.

Even after this weekend’s loss the Bears are still strong and ready for playoffs. Another positive to this game is that Trey Klassen is back from injury leave after taking the time to recover. Having a full and healthy team will benefit the Bears greatly.

In addition to this game the Bears also took the time to acknowledge their six seniors, Kaeden Locy, Asias Frison, TJ O’Brien, Nathaniel Gidney, Murphy Burke, and Ben Kenna. The dedication these players have given to the team will leave a long lasting impression on the Canton Bears. The Bears are set to head into the playoffs in the coming weeks. More details to follow.
