Bears Defense Continues to Score in Lopsided Victory over St. Lawrence Central

On Saturday, October 17, the Bears traveled to St. Lawrence Central to take on the Larries. The Bears played a strong game against them and came out on top with a 55-28 win.

The Bears started off slowly with their offense but responded well on their defense. They were able to score multiple times on defense from relentless pressure from the defensive line and linebacking crew, according to Coach Kenna.

That wasn’t all that the Bears excelled in this game. Canton’s second team had a chance to play and pursued it extremely well, producing multiple turnovers and boosting the Bears advantage.

The Bears are always working to improve their game, and coming off of a two-game winning streak they want to continue this push. There were positive outcomes for this game for individual players as well, not just as a team overall.

Hunter Rasmussen had a solid rebound game as well as Avi Jacobs getting more carries throughout the game. Kenna shares this will strongly benefit the team moving forward. Kenna also shared that adding Max TeRiele to the line will help them as the season continues. It was also mentioned how Nate Gidney continued to make plays and have a solid game that helped get this win.

The Bears have improved immensely since the season began. They’ve become smarter on the field, completing plays that get them wins and continuing to keep their drive no matter the outcome of the game.

Kenna shared that he believes the guys are ready to respond this week knowing they are playing Gouverneur this Saturday. The Bears know this game will be a challenge but team leaders Ben Kenna, Murphy Burke, Parker Ames, TJ O’Brien, and JT TeRiele still have a bad taste from their game last year. They want this win and want a chance to prove themselves. After coming off of this win they have a strong positive outlook into this week and weekend, and will continue to work. This game gave them a boost in energy and momentum that the Bears will use to their advantage.

They are set to play Gouverneur this Saturday, October 24, at home.
