Bears 12  Huskies 2

The Golden Bears Softball team made the trip to Malone on Sunday afternoon to play a game that was rained out earlier in the week.  It was an old school 1:00pm start time.  The Huskies are just coming off a win over Gouverneur on Friday and currently stand in second place in the Central Division.

The Bears scored four runs in the first inning and three more in the second on their way to a 12-2 victory.  Elle White shined on both sides of the ball going 4-4 with two doubles at the plate and also picking up the win from the circle, striking out six and only allowing 1 hit.

Jenna Larrabee roped thee hits and three RBI’s and Shaylee Olmstead went 2-4 with a triple.  Tessa Alguire picked up the save for Canton throwing a clean seventh inning, striking out one.  Alguire also lined an RBI triple of her own in the win.

“I really didn’t know how the girls were going to react, climbing back on a bus this morning after playing two games in Lowville yesterday.   They are “Gammers” though. They got off the bus ready to go.  I was so happy with them!  With the regular season coming to an end this week we had to make this game up on a Sunday.  Our pitching and defense were great today and that is what I want to see with the play off right around the corner.”  From Mike Wentworth
