SLCCF/Edward I. Moses Walk/Run to be held in Canton and Potsdam for 2026

The 48th annual St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund (SLCCF) Edward I. Moses Walk/Run for Life will once again be held at multiple sites for 2026 with events in Potsdam at the Elk’s Club as well as the traditional site in Canton at St. Lawrence University. The Kinney Drugs Foundation is the primary sponsor of the event which will be held at both locations on Sunday, April 26 with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the event beginning at 10 a.m.

Registration forms available at local Kinney Drug stores as well as on-line at www.walkrunforlife.com.

SLCCF has been in existence since 1979 and was started by Kinney employees in memory of their late president, Edward I. Moses who lost his life to cancer. Since then it has raised and donated over $2.7 million dollars to St. Lawrence County area cancer centers and other nonprofits who assist those in St. Lawrence County affected by cancer. The SLCCF funds programs that work to educate the community and help with prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer for St. Lawrence County residents. Funds are also distributed to local non-profits who provide much needed direct financial assistance to families who are battling cancer so that no one fights alone.

All monies raised stay here in St. Lawrence County. In 2025, SLCCF gave out more than $70,000 in grants to seven different agencies and nonprofits including The Richard E. Winter Cancer treatment center and Ryan’s Wish, along with newcomer The Community Health Center of the North Country. All money raised will help to meet the higher demand for cancer related services felt by our local cancer-care centers at our local hospitals and non-profits, such as St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.

As always, SLCCF has been working very hard on improving the event to create an enjoyable experience for everyone. Again this year there will be a large raffle with various items donated by generous community members and local business donors. Student volunteer groups will also be on hand with activities for kids so feel free to bring them along. SLCCF will also be inviting all of the programs that the fundraising efforts help to support so attendees can learn more about how the money raised is put to use right here in the community!
