The boys varsity hockey team wrapped up its 2025-26 regular season with a 3-0 road victory over Tupper Lake over the weekend. Despite missing several of its big-minute players, the Bears had little trouble finishing the season with a win.
After a scoreless first period, the Bears finally broke the deadlock in the second when junior forward Robert Palmer found paydirt. The play started with a pass to the point from junior forward Owen Logan, who put the puck on the tape of senior defender Lucas Clausen. Clause rifled off a quick, low shot toward goal, and Palmer’s net front presence allowed him to tip the puck past the Lumberjack goaltender.
Later in the period, Logan would find the back of the net on the powerplay, with a helper from senior forward David Seymour. Since his return from injury against Massena in Canton’s most recent contest prior to the Tupper Lake game, Seymour has notched three points after a two goal performance against the Raiders.
In the third, freshman forward Sean McCluskey added to Canton’s lead, thanks to helpers from Logan and Palmer.
After the third goal, Canton rotated all of its players evenly, giving some new opportunities to several players. The Bears managed to support junior goaltender Griffin Coakley in his shutout effort. Coakley, for his part, notched 23 saves.
The win on Saturday comes on the heels of an impressive 5-3 victory for the Bears against Massena on Wednesday night. In that game, Palmer and Seymour accounted for all five goals, with Palmer scoring a hat trick. Seymour’s first game back from a lengthy absence due to injury was vital to the Bears’ offensive efforts.
Prior to the matchup with the Raiders, the Bears had fallen in three straight league games to Potsdam, Franklin Academy, and Ogdensburg Free Academy. The Division I victory against Massena and the shutout against Tupper Lake stand as a righting of the ship for the Bears as they head to playoffs.
