On January 30th, the Canton varsity track team competed in their last regular meet of the season before moving on to Sectionals and State Qualifiers. Many of the athletes had large PR’s and even tried new events to finish the season strong.
In the girls 300 meter dash, freshman Lucy Rose placed third with a time of 46.90 seconds. Aida Baker placed ninth with a time of 48.57 seconds. Shaylee Olmstead placed tenth, running the race in 48.70 seconds.
In the girls 1500, Lena Frank placed fifth with a time of 5:40.
The girls 4×200 relay, consisting of Alexa Fay, Aida Baker, Shaylee Olmstead, and Isabella Perretta, placed fifth out of 21 total teams.
In the girls shot put, Harper Terrell placed fifth with a throw of 26 ft. 1.5 in.

In the boys 60 meter dash, Dayshawn James placed third with a time of 7.51 seconds.
Zachary Lyndaker placed third in the boys 1000 with a time of 2:58.
Adam Sabatini and Tegan Cortwright both competed in the 60 meter hurdles. Sabatini placed fourth with a time of 10.08 seconds and Cortwright placed fifth with a time of 10.11 seconds.

Adam Sabatini also broke a school record in the boys weight throw with a distance of 36 ft. 3 in.
The athletes are pleased with their performance and look forward to running, jumping, and throwing at Sectionals on Friday, February 6th.
