On Friday, January 16th, the Canton varsity track and field team had another successful meet at the Newell Fieldhouse. The athletes are currently preparing for an invitational that will take place on January 24th.
In the girls 300 meter dash, Elena Abplanalp placed eighth, running the race in 48.56 seconds. Parker Gallagher was right behind with a time of 48.59.
In the 600 meter run, Lucy Rose placed eighth with a time of 1:57.
Natasha Rossiter took fifth in the girls 1000, running a 3:45.
The girls 4×800 meter relay placed third with a total time of 10:56. The team consisted of Lena Frank, Lucy Rose, Hannah Ames, and Elena Abplanalp.
In the boys 60 meter dash, Dayshawn James placed second with a time of 7.47 seconds.
Duncan Harper placed fourth in the boys 600 meters with a time of 1:33.
Zachary Lyndaker placed fourth in the 1600 with a time of 4:54.
In the 3200, Cedric Harper placed fourth with a time of 11:29.
The athletes are pleased with their performances and are looking forward to competing against teams from outside of Section X at the upcoming invite.
