On Friday, January 9th, the Canton varsity track team had their third meet of the season held at SLU’s Newell Fieldhouse. The team is growing in potential and is preparing for the peak of the season.
In the girls 1000 meter run, Lucy Rose placed fifth, running a 3:38. Hannah Ames was right behind, running a 3:39.
Parker Gallagher placed sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.20 seconds.
The girls 4×400 meter relay took second with a time of 4:44. The team consisted of Elena Abplanalp, Hannah Ames, Lucy Rose, and Alexa Fay.
In the girls triple jump, Isabella Perretta placed eighth with a jump of 28 ft. 11 in.
In the boys 60 meter dash, Dayshawn James placed third with a time of 7.55 seconds.
Zachary Lyndaker had an impressive 3200 meter run, placing first with a time of 10:47.
The boys 4×800 team placed fourth with a time of 9:43. The team consisted of Cedric Harper, Elijah Williams, Duncan Harper, and Zachary Lyndaker.
In the boys weight throw, Adam Sabatini placed seventh with a distance of 31 ft. 4 in, while also setting a school record.
The next meet will take place on Friday, January 16th.
