On Thursday, November 6th, the Canton varsity cross country team traveled to Tupper Lake to compete in the Section X championships. In true cross country fashion, a dusting of snow covered the course.
Six Canton athletes qualified for States, which will take place in Queensbury, NY on November 15th.
In the girls race, Lena Frank was Canton’s top girls runner, placing 12th with a time of 23:07. JessieJean Coffin ran the race in 23:29. Addison Ragan finished in 25:14.

Both Lena Frank and JessieJean Coffin will compete at States this weekend.
On the boys side, Zachary Lyndaker was Canton’s top finisher, placing eighth with a time of 18:01. Cedric Harper was right behind with a time of 18:05. Duncan Harper finished in 18:38. Carson White ran the race in 19:22. Elijah Williams finished in 20:36. Running a 22:17 was Parker Smith.
Zachary Lyndaker, Cedric Harper, Duncan Harper, and Carson White all qualified for States.

At the awards ceremony held afterwards, many Canton runners received recognition. In addition to recognizing those who qualified for States, Zachary Lyndaker and Cedric Harper received 2nd team All Northern awards, while Duncan Harper and Addison Ragan received Section Sportsmanship awards.
Despite many of the athletes battling illness and injury throughout the season, the Canton varsity cross country team still finished their season strong thanks to their determination and their coaches’ dedication.
The athletes moving on to States look forward to the prestigious meet!
