Bears Volleyball Back on Track with Third Straight Win

After a tough four-game losing streak, the Canton Golden Bears volleyball team has found their rhythm again, winning their third straight match. The Bears had dropped matches to Salmon River (1–3), Massena (0–3), Malone (0–3), and Chateaugay (2–3) before turning things around with victories over Clifton-Fine (3–2), Gouverneur (3–1), and most recently, Madrid-Waddington (3–0).

In Tuesday night’s important league matchup, the Bears came out strong and maintained control throughout the opening set, taking it 25–23. The second set was a back-and-forth battle, but Canton pulled ahead to win 25–21. The third set proved to be the most thrilling of the night. Down 16–24, the Bears mounted an incredible comeback behind a serving streak from Delia Gaurin, capped off by a game-winning ace.

The night also carried special meaning as it was Pink Out Night, an annual event dedicated to raising money and awareness for breast cancer. The gym was filled with fans dressed in pink, and several players honored relatives who are breast cancer survivors. It was a great night to cheer on the Bears while supporting an important cause.

Canton will be back in action Thursday night when they face their Route 11 rivals from Potsdam. The varsity match will follow the JV game.
