The Canton Golden Bears faced their first loss of the season Tuesday night, falling to the Salmon River Shamrocks 3–1. The match was competitive throughout, with the Bears dropping the opening set 21–25 before falling 15–25 in the second. Canton roared back with a convincing 25–14 win in the third, but the Shamrocks sealed the victory in a tight fourth set, 23–25.
Salmon River outhustled Canton throughout the night, capitalizing on multiple Bear errors. Despite the loss, a few Bears turned in strong performances. Setter Zoey Zebedee tallied 19 and 14 assists to go along with 7 digs. Freshman Delia Gaurin added 6 kills, while co-captain Elle White led the attack with 10 kills, 15 service points, and 4 aces.
Canton will look to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to face the undefeated Massena Red Raiders, one of the top teams in Section X.
