This week, the Canton varsity cross country team competed in two exciting meets. Many athletes raced to new personal records, highlighting their strength and determination.
On Tuesday, September 23rd, the athletes competed in their first league meet of the season at Norwood-Norfolk Central School. The majority of Section X cross country teams attended.
In the girls race, freshman JessieJean Coffin placed tenth, running the course in 24:23. Lena Frank ran the race in 27:06. Elizabeth Metcalf ran a 31:53.
On the boys side, Zachary Lyndaker placed ninth with a time of 18:54. Duncan Harper ran the race in 19:22. Cedric Harper finished in 19:25. Carson White ran the race in 21:35. Elijah Williams completed the course in 22:21. Parker Smith ran a 22:43.

On Saturday, September 27th, the team traveled to Utica for the E.J. Herrmann Invitational.
On the girls team, Lena Frank placed 25th with a time of 25:00. JessieJean Coffin was right behind with a time of 25:07. Ashlan Foster ran the race in 27:06. Elizabeth Metcalf ran a 29:13.
On the boys team, Zachary Lyndaker placed 15th with a time of 18:52. Cedric Harper finished the race in 18:55. Duncan Harper completed the course in 19:22. Carson White finished in 21:07. Parker Smith was close behind with a time of 21:09. Elijah Williams finished the race in 21:41.

The Bears’ next meet will take place on September 30th at Brushton-Moira School.
