Cats Top Bears in Eight

In Gouverneur at Riverview Park on Monday, Canton 1, Gouverneur 2

The Golden Bears Softball team travel to Gouverneur to face the Wildcats in a central league match up.  If you like to watch old fashioned pitchers duels, this game would not disappoint.  Canton Tessa Alguire and Gouverneur’s Renisa Richards battled for eight innings to see who would come out on top.  Alguire struck out 13 and allowed five hits and Richards struck out 10 and gave up seven hits but Gouverneur came out on top by the score of 2-1.

Aida Baker collected two hits to lead the Bears.  Alguire, Jenna Larrabee(1 RBI), Elle White, Elise Harris and Layla Clifford all collected one hit apiece.

“If you like good Softball that was probably a great game to watch.  Both pitchers threw well but in the end they got the breaks they needed.  We have to get better at putting the ball in play in key situation.  We have four more games this week so we will see how we bounce back after that.” from Coach Wentworth

Canton will be back in action on Tuesday when they make the trip down route 11 to face the Potsdam Sandstoners.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:30
