Winter Track Sectionals Wrap Up Season

The last meet of the Section X winter track and field season took place at the Newell Field House on January 7th. The Canton varsity athletes report being pleased with the sectional results and their accomplishments throughout the season.

To kick off the meet, the girls 4×800 team placed second with a time of 10:22. The team consisted of Salma Moumen, Elena Abplanalp, Aurora Casserly, and Lena Frank. 

In the boys 4×800, Daniel Armendariz-Huang, Kaden Worthley, Ryaln Lee-Powell, and Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle took first, completing the race in 8:37.

In the girls 60 meter dash, Shaylee Olmstead placed 12th with a time of 8.90.

In the boys 60-meter dash, Tegan Cortwright placed tenth with a time of 7.86 and Hayden Towle placed 13th with a time of 7.94.

In the girls 60 meter hurdles, Isabella Perratta placed ninth, running an 11.56. Alexa Fay placed 11th with a time of 12.09.

In the girls 1500 meters, Violet Foster placed ninth with a time of 5:57. Addison Ragan placed tenth, running a 6:16. Lorelei Harper placed 11th with a time of 6:21.

Canton’s boys 4×200, consisting of Hayden Towle, Finn O’Brien, Tegan Cortwright, and Crosby Terrell, placed fourth with a time of 1:47.

In the boys 1600, Kolton Worthley placed eighth with a time of 5:14. Zachary Lyndaker placed 13th with a time of 5:22.

In the girls 600, Hannah Ames ran a time of 1:54, placing fifth. Aurora Casserly placed sixth with a time of 1:56.

Salma Moumen placed second in the 300 meters with a time of 10:53.

In the boys 300 meter dash, Dayshawn James ran a 40.60, placing ninth.

In the boys 1000 meters, Noah Gendebein placed second with a time of 2:44. In third was Daniel Armendariz-Huang with a time of 2:47. Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle placed fourth with a time of 2:55.

Rylan Lee-Powell took first in the boys 3200 with a time of 10:22. Kaden Worthley ran a 10:31, placing second. Lucas Watts placed fourth with a time of 10:54.

The girls 4×400 relay placed third. Elena Abplanalp, Zara Cordwell, Hannah Ames, and Aurora Casserly completed the race in 4:42.

The boys 4×400 team, composed of Noah Gendebein, Duncan Harper, Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle, and Adam Sabatini, placed fourth with a time of 3:57.

In boys long jump, Hayden Towle placed tenth with a distance of 17 ft. 4 in.

In girls triple jump, Hannah Ames placed tenth with a jump of 27 ft. 5 in. Isabella Perratta placed 12th with a distance of 26 ft. 1 in.

In the boys shot put, William Moots placed seventh with a throw of 33 ft. 2in.

In girls high jump, Zara Cordwell placed second with a height of 5 ft.

While some of these athletes are preparing to head to states in a few weeks, many other Canton athletes are looking forward to the beginning of the spring sports season.
