On Friday, December 6th, the Canton varsity track and field team competed in their first meet of the season at the St. Lawrence University Newell Field House. The athletes competed well and are looking forward to setting new records and reaching new personal goals as the season progresses.
In the girls 4×800 meter relay, Canton placed first with a total time of 11:09. The relay team was composed of Elena Aplananalp, Hannah Ames, Aurora Casserly, and Salma Moumen.
The boys 4×800 team ran the race with a time of 8:52. Daniel Armendariz- Huang, Noah Gendebien, Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle, and Rylan Lee-Powell secured first place with ease.
In the girls 600 meter run, Elena Aplananalp placed second out of 23 racers with a time of 1:53. Hannah Ames took fifth with a time of 1:59.
Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle placed third in the boys 600 with a time of 1:34. Adam Sabatini placed seventh, running the race in 1:41.
Violet Foster ran an impressive race in the girls 1500, placing third with a time of 6:08.
In the girls 3000 meter run, Salma Moumen placed second with a time of 11:43. Aurora Casserly placed sixth with a time of 12:46.
In the boys 300 meter dash, Caleb Wilknson ran a time of 40.51, placing fourth.
In the boys 1000, Lucas Watts took first with a time of 3:01. Adam Sabatini placed second, running a 3:07.
Noah Gendebien placed second in the boys 1600 meters with a time of 4:51.
In the girls high jump, Zara Cordwell placed second with a jump of 4 ft. 10 in.
In the boys 3200, Rylan Lee-Powell placed second with a time of 10:36. Kaden Worthley placed third, running the race in 10:58.
In boys high jump, Caleb Wilknson placed second with a height of 5 ft. 6 in.
Overall, the Canton girls team placed fourth with 63 points and the boys placed second with 98 points. The track and field athletes look forward to their next meet on December 13th at SLU.
