
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Canton modified cross country team competed at their second meet held in Tupper Lake. The Canton boys placed first overall against the rest of Section X.
Zacharay Lyndaker took second place with a time of 12:55. Cedric Harper was right behind with a time of 12:56. In fifth place was Parker Smith, running a 13:25. Elijah Williams placed ninth with a time of 14:35. John Tartakoff ran a 15:31, placing 19th. Callum Parsons placed 21st with a time of 15:50. Daniel Nobel placed 24th with a time of 16:17. William Tartakoff placed 28th with a time of 18:58. Michael Oshier placed 29th with a time of 19:02.
Later in the week, on Saturday, the team traveled to the E.J. Herrmann Invitational in Utica, NY. Everyone ran a successful race against the 35 other schools that participated. The boys team finished fourth overall.

For the boys race, Cedric Harper placed seventh out of 128 runners with a time of 9:38. Zachary Lyndaker placed ninth with a time of 9:51. In 24th was Parker Smith, running a 10:31. Elijah Williams placed 36th with a time of 11:09. Callum Parsons ran an 11:33, placing 47th. Coming 61st was John Tartakoff with a time of 11:54. Daniel Noble placed 74th with a time of 12:33. Michael Oshier placed 101st, running a 14:15. William Tartakoff placed 118th with a time of 16:53.
Canton’s only modified girl, Autumn Perry, ran an impressive first race with a time of 11:37, placing 20th.
The top 50 runners for both boys and girls received ribbons. The top 10 received t-shirts. The Canton cross country teams will race again at the Nicandri Nature Center on October 1st.
