In Massena on Monday afternoon, Canton 14, Massena 4
The Canton Golden Bears traveled to Massena to face the Raiders in a Central League game on Monday afternoon. The two teams traded runs in the first four innings until the Bears opened it up in the fifth inning by pushing across six runs on their way to a 14-4 victory.
Tessa Alguire earned the win in the circle, pitching six innings, striking out six. Elle White picked up the save pitching the seventh inning, striking out one. Leading the way with the bats was Maya Thomas who went 3-3 with an RBI. Faith Christy also picked up two key hits in the win.
“We had a nice fifth inning at the plate to open that game up,” said Coach Wentworth. “Was nice to see Faith Christy come up with a couple big hits to get us going. Led by Olivia Sommerstein, we also made a couple very nice defensive plays. That is what I have been waiting to see.”
The Bears will make the trip to Copenhagen on Tuesday to play on their new turf field. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
