In Canton at Ike Noble Field on Friday, Canton 22, Potsdam 7
The Canton Golden Bears Softball team hosted their Route 11 rival, the Potsdam Sandstoners on Friday afternoon at Ike Noble Field. Canton worked off a sluggish start to take home a 22-7 victory.
The Bears showcased three different pitchers on Friday. Tessa Alguire, Elle White and Marilisa Salvi-Miguel each threw two effective innings. It was White’s first action in the circle since suffering an injury the first game of the season.
“We again pounded the ball again and were very aggressive at the plate. For us to take the next step though we just have to stay focused with the leather and make the routine plays. All and all it was a good week for us on the diamond,” said Coach Wentworth
Offensively Shaylee Olmstead led the Bears with four hits including a two run homerun. Elle White collected three hits and five RBI’s highlighted by a triple. Alguire (triple, double, 5 RBI’s) and Emma Logan each had two hits in the win.
Canton will have the weekend off and then travel to Massena to play the Raiders in a Central league match up. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
