Modified Track Post New Personal Records

On Friday, April 27th, the Canton modified track team competed in their second meet of the season at Franklin Academy in Malone. The warm and sunny spring weather conditions were conducive for running and field events. The athletes had many new personal records, competing against Malone, Madrid-Wadington, and Gouveneur. 

In the girls 100 meter dash, Elizabeth Metcalf placed eighth with a time of 15.20 seconds. With a time of 15.30 seconds was Parker Gallagher, placing 11th. Melanie Ward placed 16th with a time of 15.80 seconds. Ella Bradish-Hayes placed 20th with a time of 16.60 seconds. With a time of 16.80 seconds was Addison Ragan, placing 22nd.

In the boys 100, John Mitchell placed fifth with a time of 13.90 seconds. In 13th place was Andrew Downing with a time of 15 seconds. Finn O’Brien placed 17th, running 15.50 seconds. Elijah Williams placed 21st with a time of 17.80 seconds. Ayden Hoyt placed 22nd, running the race in 19.60 seconds.

In the girls 55 meter hurdles, Mary Abuhassan placed third with a time of 11.30 seconds. Parker Gallagher placed seventh with a time of 12.30 seconds.

John Mitchell placed second in the boys 55 meter hurdles. 

In the girls 200 meter dash, Melanie Ward placed fourth with a time of 32.10 seconds. In 12th was Ella Bradish-Hayes with a time of 34.60 seconds. Dilek Eissenstat ran the race in 35.10 seconds, placing 13th. JessieJean Coffin was right behind with a time of 35.30 seconds.

In the boys 200, Andrew downing placed fourth with a time of 31.10 seconds. In seventh was Zachary Lyndaker with a time of 32 seconds. Both Finn O’Brien and Carson White ran 32.60 seconds, tying for ninth. Parker Smith placed 14th with a time of 34.90 seconds. In 15th was Elijah Williams, running the race in 37.20 seconds. Ayden Hoyt placed 16th with a time of 40 seconds.

In the girls 1500, Sophia Choi placed first with a time of 6:38.

Placing third in the boys 400 was Cedric Harper with a time of 1:13. Parker Smith placed fourth with a time of 1:17. Elijah Williams ran a 1:22, placing sixth.

Addison Ragan placed first in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 3:09.

In the boys 800, Cedric Harper placed fifth with a time of 2:48. Carson White placed seventh with a time of 2:50.

Competing in the girls shot put was JessieJean Coffin, who placed fourth with a throw of 16 ft 11 in.

In the girls long jump, Canton had many competing team members. Mary Abuhassan placed third with a jump of 12 ft 3 in. In sixth place was Elizabeth Metcalf, jumping 11 ft 4 in. Melanie Ward placed seventh with 10 ft 11 in. Ella Bradish-Hayes placed 13th, with a distance of 9 ft 9in. Sophia Choi placed 16th with a jump of 9 ft 3 in. Jumping 8 ft 10 in was Parker Gallagher, placing 17th. Dilek Eissenstat placed 18th with a jump of 7 ft 11 in.

Carson White placed third in the boys long jump with a distance of 13 ft 2 in. Zachary Lyndaker placed sixth with a distance of 12 ft 2 in.

In the boys high jump, Finn O’Brien and Andrew Downing both placed second with heights of 4 ft 2 in. John Mitchell placed fourth with a height of 4 ft. In seventh was Carson White with a jump of 3 ft 8 in.

John Mitchell placed seventh in boys discus with a throw of 43 ft 4 in.

There were two girls 4×100 relay teams. One placed fourth with a time of 1:02, and the other placed eighth with a time of 1:06.

In the boys 4×100, the Canton team placed sixth with a time of 1:12.

Finishing off the fantastic meet was the 1200 mixed medley relay. The Canton team placed second with a time of 3:49. 

The next meet will be on Thursday, May 2nd at OFA. The athletes are looking forward to the rest of the season.
