Bears Indoor Track Prepares for Sectionals

This week the Section X Indoor Track teams had the penultimate meet of the season, preparing for sectionals next Friday.

In the men’s team rankings, Massena won with 88 points, followed by Franklin Academy with 78. Potsdam placed third with 77.5 points, and Canton finished fourth with 66 points.

In the women’s team rankings, Potsdam placed first again with 125 points, Canton placed second with 75 points, followed by Gouverneur with 70.

Canton’s girl’s 4×800-meter relay team of Lena Frank, Aurora Casserly, Bennett Schmitt, and Salma Moumen placed third in 11:03.27.

Early in the meet, Stella Shipman won Canton’s first event, the girl’s 60-meter hurdles, with a time of 10.37.

In the next event, the boy’s distance team placed first and third in the 1600-meter run; Kaden Worthley won in 4:54.13, and Adam Sabatini placed third in 5:06.04.

Rylan Lee-Powell placed second in the boy’s 600-meter run (1:32.15), and Hannah Ames placed third in the girl’s 600 (1:54.00).

Daniel Armendariz-Huang won a small field of 3200-meter runners in 10:56.97.

In the 1000-meter runs Aiden Rodriguez-Doyle placed second in 2:56.12, Lucas Watts placed third in 3:06.86, and Frank placed second in 3:43.34.

Schmitt won the 3000-meter run in 11:10.20, and the girl’s 4×400-meter relay of Ames, Casserly, Shipman, and Maysa Moumen placed third in 4:47.58.

In the field, Sabatini was the only podium performance for Canton, jumping 5-06.00 in the High Jump and placing second.
