In Canton on Jan. 31 – Canton 62, Massena 30
The Canton girls JV basketball team (12-3) hosted the Massena Raiders on Wednesday evening and rolled to a 62-30 victory.
The first half was an offensive battle with both teams trading buckets but in the end the Bears settled in to play a solid defensive second half. Offensively, eighth grader Elle White led the team in scoring with 18 points and six rebounds. Jenna Larrabee (nine rebounds) and Zayda Gaurin each put up 12 points, while Ashley Aldous netted 11 points. Other scorers were Keegan Larsen (five points), Emma Bradish Hayes (two points).
“This was a big offensive game for us. You can always count on Elle and Jenna to put up good numbers but when you see Zayda, Keegan and Ashley shoot like that it makes it fun to watch. We have had a tough schedule lately so it was fun to have some success tonight,” said Coach Mike Wentworth.
