Modified Indoor Track Places Third in First Meet of 2024

On January 5, the Canton modified track team competed in their first meet of 2024 at the SLU fieldhouse. The athletes represented their school once again, with both the boys and girls teams placing third overall.

In the boys 4×200 relay, the Canton team placed third with a total time of 2:14.

The girls 4×200 relay placed fourth with a total time of 2:23.

In the boys 60 meter dash, John Mitchell placed seventh with a time of 8.80 seconds. In 20th, with a time of 10 seconds, was Finn O’Brien. Malachi Conant ran the race in 10.40 seconds, placing 23rd.

In the girls 60 meters, Sola Oakley placed fifth with a time of 9.30 seconds. Ella Bradish-Hayes came eighth, running the race in 9.70 seconds. Parker Gallagher placed 22nd with a time of 10.40 seconds. In 36th was JessieJean Coffin, with a time of 11 seconds.

In the girls 60 meter hurdles, Parker Gallagher placed 6th with a time of 14.50 seconds.

In first place in the boys 300 meter dash was Dayshawn James, with a time of 44.10 seconds. John Mitchell placed 11th with a time of 52.10 seconds. In 21st with a time of 1:03 was Elijah Williams.

In the girls 300 dash, Maeve Murphy placed seventh, running the race in 53 seconds. In 21st was Rori Ballard, running a 1:02. 

In the boys 800, Cedric Harper placed seventh, running a 2:50. In 10th was Daniel Noble, running a 3:24.

Dilek Eissenstat placed second in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 3:00. Jillian Richardson ran a 3:18, placing fifth. Addison Ragan placed sixth, with a time of 3:22.

In the girls 4×400, the Canton team placed fourth.

In the boys high jump, Dayshawn James placed third with a height of 4 ft 4 in. In fourth was Finn O’Brien, clearing 4 ft 2 in. John Mitchell placed 11th with a height of 3 ft 6 in.

In the girls shot put, Gabby Pecola placed 10th, throwing 15 ft 7 in. 

In the boys shot put, Elijah Williams threw 13 ft 11 in, placing 12th.

At this meet, long jump and triple jump were introduced, which many Canton athletes participated in.

In the girls long jump, Elizabeth Metcalf placed fourth, jumping a distance of 9 ft 10 in. Mary Abuhassan jumped 9 ft 6 in, placing sixth. In 11th was Ella Bradish-Hayes with a distance of 8 ft 7 in. Gabby Pecola placed 15th with a distance of 8 ft. Dilek Eissenstat jumped 7 ft 5 in, coming 16th.

In boys long jump, Daniel Noble placed sixth with a distance of 9 ft 10 in. Malachi Conant jumped 9 ft 4 in, placing seventh. 

Maeve Murphy placed first in the girls triple jump, with a distance of 24 ft 4 in.

The athletes enjoyed the new events at St. Lawrence and are looking forward to their next meet on the 13th of January at SUNY Potsdam.
