JV Girls Tumble Rocks

In Canton on Thursday evening, Canton 56,  Salmon River 21

The Salmon River Shamrocks came to town on Thursday night to tip it off with the Canton girls JV Basketball team. The young Cubs started the game sluggish on both sides of the ball, struggling to get a good flow but the second half was a totally different story. After four quarters the Bears walked away with a 56-21 victory.

Canton was without Jenna Larrabee on Thursday so eighth graders Elle White, Ashley Aldous and Emma Bradish Hayes picked up the slack by scoring 27, 17 and 8 points in the winning cause.

“We played a very good second half tonight after a rough start,” said Coach Mike Wentworth. “When Ashley plays like she did in the second half our team really flows. Elle has been on a tear lately,  putting up her third game in a row with double digit scoring with 27. It was nice to see a lot of different combinations on the floor tonight. That makes it a true team win.”

Canton will hit the road on Monday when they travel to Brasher to play against the St. Lawrence Central Larries.
