It turned out to be a “White” Christmas for the Canton Girls JV Basketball team as they defeated the Hammond Red Devils by a score of 31-22. The first ever Sami Curtis Tournament was lead on both evenings by tournament MVP Elle White with outstanding contributions from all of the other players in gritty championship performance!
Friday night the Bears topped the Norwood-Norfolk Flyers by the score of 52-20. Leading the Cubs on the scoreboard were Elle White 22 points/7 rebounds, Ashley Aldous 11 points and Jenna Larrabee 14 points/8 rebounds.
On Saturday afternoon the Bears matched up with the Hammond Red Devils in the championship game. The young Bears hung on and survived a tough 31-22 victory. Canton was again led by eight graders Elle White with 14 points/ 7 rebounds and Ashley Aldous 8 points and sophomore Jenna Larrabee 7 points.
“It is always fun to win your own tournament and the girls played so hard this weekend and it is fun to see them get better every time they step on the court. Elle White is such a “Gamer”. She loves the big game atmosphere and she had a monster tournament. Ashley and Jenna also had a great weekend and were big factors in winning the championship.
