BFA came into the second period with a purpose, tallying a quick goal take the lead. Josh Ayrassian states “I thought the team chemistry remained fantastic throughout the game. Even though we lost, it still gave us motivation to play our hardest the following day against Essex”.

The game ended with an empty net goal by Bellows to seal the deal and hand Canton their first loss of the season.

Canton 5, Essex 0

The Golden Bears came into the game with their first loss of the season in the books and had some motivation to get the win. The first period started out with alternating attacks from each team, neither one capitalizing on their chances. The clock wound down on the first period and the score was at a stand-still.

Period two started out hot for the brown and gold as they applied pressure to the Hornets goaltender with multiple scoring chances. Eventually Canton capitalized as Senior Captain Garrit Palmer tallied the first goal of the game. The assist went to Senior Drew Blevins after he found Palmer in the high slot for goal number one. Minutes later the roles are reversed as Drew Blevins found the back of the net on the power play off a cross crease pass from Garrit Palmer. Canton struck again in a very similar fashion with yet another power play goal by Drew Blevins from Garrit Palmer. The Golden Bears go into the locker room with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The third period got under way and the brown and gold looked to cap off their fifth straight win. Owen Logan notched his second of his career as he created an offensive zone turnover that led to far corner tuck for the Freshman. Canton seals the deal later that period with a breakaway goal from Drew Blevins to secure not only the win, but the natural hat trick.

Landan Denner stood tall in net as well, earning his first-career shutout in the win.
