In Norwood on Monday evening, Canton 69, Norwood 26

The Bears traveled to Norwood-Norfolk Monday night, solidly defeating the Lady Flyers. The young team took an early lead right off in the first quarter and held a commanding lead throughout the game. It was a successful game for the Bears offense as every member of the team put points on the board. Junior Calie Klassen came out strong sinking 3 3-pointers within the first quarter of play and sophomore, Olivia White added two trifectas.

The Bears defense worked hard and kept the score low, but still struggled to guard N-N sophomore, Olivia Plonka who netted 16 of Norwood’s 26 total points.

“The girls played hard tonight. They moved the ball well, and executed a lot of good plays,” Coach Jim DiSalvo said after the game. “Offensively, each girl did their part. Our biggest challenge of the night was defending Olivia Plonka. She is a strong player under the basket and I think we learned from her tonight. The attitude and athleticism this young team has shown in their first two games is impressive.”

The Bears will have a week-long break before their next game when they will take on the Red Raiders in Massena on Monday night. Tip off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
Box Score: Klassen 19, White 13, Downs 8, Burnett 8, Alguire 7, Coburn 6, Aldous 4, Francey 4
