Canton Girls Varsity Soccer Shut Out OFA On Senior Night

Canton 3, OFA 0

Coming off two losses for the first time this season, Canton looked to bounce back and finish the regular season off strong with a win. After scoring no goals in their past two games, the Golden Bears looked to their seniors to produce offense and they did not disappoint.

The Brown and Gold opened up the scoring 20 minutes in and never looked back. The first goal was a classic give-and-go from Emily Estabrooks to fellow senior Stella Shipman. Just 10 minutes later, Estabrooks found Shipman again for another goal off a corner kick. Seconds later, Canton goalie Calie Tebo made a clutch save with minutes remaining to send Canton into halftime with a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Golden Bears came out of halftime hot, wasting no time to pressure OFA’s defense and goaltender. Winnie Downs found the back of the net from a chip from Shipman. Canton’s defense found their stride late in the game to help seal the victory for the Brown and Gold.

After the game, Canton honored their seniors and celebrated all of their achievements. The Route 11 Rivalry continues as the Golden Bears will face off against the Potsdam Sandstoners in the first round of Section X playoffs.
