Canton varsity volleyball ran into a tough opponent last night in their home opener losing the match to Chateaugay in straight sets. The Bears were struggling with offense and ended the night with only seven kills total.
There were a few bright spots on the night as Haley Perrin continued her strong serve performance notching up six points and two aces. Defense was necessary against strong Bulldog hitters and Cecily Shipman and Calie Klassen each came up with three digs apiece. Elle White had most of the blocking duties on the night coming away with three kills and one block. Emma Logan played a strong game squeezing out one kills and four points served.
The JV team also ended up on the short end against the Bulldogs but showed great improvement from previous games. The score ended up 1-2 after several lead changes; the final score of the second set was 23-25.
The team goes on the road again tonight traveling to Malone for another non-league match up. Next home game is Monday, Oct. 2 vs Tupper.
