Modified Volleyball Splits in Two Matches

The Canton Central modified volleyball team split in a pair of road scrimmages this past week.  The Bears, under the guidance once again of head coach Kate Porter, beat the Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets 2-1 on Thursday, Sept. 7 and fell to the Ogdensburg Free Academy Blue Devils 2-1 on Monday, Sept. 11

The Bears, backed by strong serving from several players, controlled the first two sets against the Yellowjackets winning 25-10 and 25-14.  Madrid-Waddington came back and won the final set in a close 25-23 battle.

On Monday against OFA, Canton lost the first set 25-18 and then won the second set by the same score before dropping the final set 25-16. 

Delia Gaurin had a solid all-around game to lead the Bears against the Blue Devils, finishing with four kills, two digs and an ace.  Arieana St. Andrews added four aces.  Zizi Metcalf and Lily Abplanalp contributed three aces apiece.  Skye Perrin and Maria Franklin each had two aces, and Sydney Allard chipped in with one kill and one dig.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 19 when they host Clifton-Fine at 5 p.m.
